The attachment of the country singer Minnie Pearl to the chain’s name gave it an immediate boost, and it gained immense popularity among people. The stock prices escalated when they went public and started to sell their franchises. From the first outlet in 1969, it expanded to over 567 restaurants. Though the expansion became a reason for the chain’s setback too, as the management was poor and the recipes differed at various outlets, why many first-time customers never came back! With several accounting irregularities by overexpansion of the franchises, Minnie Pearl Chicken had to close its branches.
